At Logan Park we want to prepare students to be in the strongest position possible to move into a satisfying and fulfilling career pathway.  Hence every student takes part in a Career Programme.

Career Programmes

  • Logan Park Year 9 to 13 Career Education Programme involves targeted workshops, Tertiary visits, Career Expo experience, Group Teacher Career support, Department Career focus.
  • Career Guidance from the Careers Advisor to monitor and achieve student goals, to identify the blocks to success and clarify opportunities for Career Pathways in the future.
  • Targeted database to develop and monitor individual career profiles.
  • Logan Park STAR courses for senior students including First Aid Certificates, Food Handling courses, Scuba Diving courses, Tertiary paper opportunities and many others.
  • Logan Park specific Career Pathways Year 11 and 12 classes.
  • Gateway Work Experience placements in Year 12 and 13.

Gateway Programme

This programme gives senior students the opportunity to experience working in their field of choice whilst still studying a full academic programme.  Available to students in Years 12 & 13, the programme equips students with the skills and experience to pursue a career in a wide range of fields.  Workplace qualificaions are gained in areas such as: broadcasting, journalism, conservation, retail, fashion design, hospitality, electrical and automotive trades.

Victoria University School Visit Tuesday 14th May 12.35-1.25pm  in the Careers Resource Centre (Room 6).  If you’re interested in Architectural Design or a range of other courses, come and discuss options for study at Victoria. Get information on degrees they offer and also their admission requirements and enrolment.

 

Victoria University Information Evening Wednesday 15th May from 6.00pm. Victoria University of Wellington are holding an information evening at the Otago Museum, 419 Great King Street, Dunedin. They will provide information for students and parents who are interested in studying at Victoria. Tertiary Open Day Monday 13th May 9am-3pm Year 13 students: Visit the Otago Polytechnic, University of Otago and Aoraki campuses to get information on courses they have to offer. Attend special presentations and tours around the University campus and visit residential colleges.

 

Ninja Job Hunting Monday 13th May 12.10-1.00pm Dunnington Suite, Dunedin City Library. Become an apprentice job hunting ninja and learn the secret art of ninja job hunting. 30 Minute presentation and question time. Learn special techniques which you can apply at any time.
