NZ author offers inspiration

Renowned NZ author David Hill visited Logan Park on Friday and spoke to over 300 students.  He shared his inspirations and insights about the writing process.  He is a great believer in hard work, researching and redrafting writing, and he takes about a year to write a book to publication standard.  He also works on articles, reviews and plays at the same time as working on a main novel.

David also took a tutorial for 20 of our enthusiastic writers, and they had the opportunity to share their own writing and ask for advice.

Debating strong at Logan Park

Four former Logan Park High School students had impressive performances in the recent World Universities Debating Championships in Berlin.  Alec Dawson and Kieran Bunn finished in the top four teams, John Brinsley-Pirie made the final series round coming 25th overall out of 400 teams and Patrick Dawson was an adjudicator in the final.

Talented student's gift to future students

Talented art student Nada Crofskey-Rayner and her friends spent their summer holiday designing and painting a mural in the school's Learning Centre as a farewell gift. The previously orange walls of the Learning Centre have been transformed with the mural which starts with the big bang, then leaps from dinosaurs and volcanoes right up to the present day, incorporating the symbols of the four LPHS Houses.

Bowling success for the second time

Callum Horwell and Jacobi Kohu-Morris retained their New Zealand Secondary School Pairs Bowls title in Hamilton in the December holidays.    This is only the third time that a team from Zone 6 which covers Timaru to Invercargill, has won the boys pairs.    Well done Callum and Jacobi.   The Logan Park girls pairs team of Tayla Hohaia and Sarah Wilson also had a successful time winning the Plate final 15-2.
